Maybe I’m caught in 2009 but doesn’t the cover of Captain Marvel #50 look like the claw dance from Lady Gaga’s mega-hit Bad Romance? Rah, rah, ah-ah-ah! Sure, the comic is from 1977 but look at everyone doing a dance that involves your arms raised and your hands in a claw pose. I cannot decide is Scarlet Witch or Vision is playing the part of Lady Gaga. Bad Romance people, it’s a Bad Romance.
Anyway, that is not why you should own this issue. Is it the epic villain Green Iron Man, uh I mean, Super-Adaptoid? No. Although if you want his first appearance it’s in Tales of Suspense #82. Captain Marvel #50 is the first appearance of Dr. Minerva’s. Dr. Who? (Not that Dr. Who) Dr. Minerva. One of the villains in the upcoming Captain Marvel movie starring Brie Larson. Dr. Minerva will be played by Gemma Chan from AMC’s Humans.
